Trade War: China Open To Talks With US If Trump Shows Respect | Bloomberg The Pulse 04/16 (Bloomberg)
Bloomberg has learned that China wants to see a number of steps from President Trump's administration before it will agree to trade talks, including showing more respect by reining in disparaging remarks by members of his cabinet. Other conditions include a more consistent US position and a willingness to address China's concerns around American sanctions and Taiwan. Beijing also wants the US to appoint a point person for talks who has the president's support and can help prepare a deal that Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping can sign when they meet.
Meanwhile, semiconductors stocks dropping in premarket trading on Wednesday after Nvidia said the US government is restricting the export of its H20 chip to China. The sector was also weighed down after ASML reported quarterly bookings well estimates.
